Don’t watch this game, just bet on it. Though San Fran RB Frank Gore may finally be the Frank Gore we expected him to be coming into the season, this game will probably be excruciating other than Gore. Gore had 214 total yards against Arizona last week with two scores in a shocking 37 point output for the 9ers.
Usually the 49ers only score when the opposing team is distracted by a San Francisco fan in the stands shooting him self in the face.
The 49ers tasted victory after that game for the first time in about two months. Victory tastes a lot better than whatever they were eating after their past eight games, when their highest scoring output was 16 points.
Don’t put that in your mouth.
The most outstanding point to be made about this
game is that the Panthers are equally as suicide-inducing. They’re
terrible at home.
This season they’re 0-5 at home straight up and against the spread,
and have lost their last seven games there. They’ve also lost
their last five games overall.
There just might be quite a few people shooting themselves in the face
in this game, as the Panthers have racked up a pathetic 50 total points
in those last five games.
The last time that Frank Gore scored before the week 12 game against
Arizona was in week two at St. Louis. That was also the last time the
49ers won. Gore has crossed the goal line in just three games, each
of the three wins for San Fran.
Gore will also be playing for his close friend
Sean Taylor, who was killed in his home earlier this week. The two were
friends since childhood.
Equally as detrimental to the Panthers’ success (or lack of it)
as Gore’s scoring is to the 49ers’ success is Carolina WR
Steve Smith. Smith hasn’t scored since week 6--a Panthers victory.
The Panthers have lost every game since.
