Week 7 NFL Free Pick Article
By Adam Barone— Yes, 10.5 is a big number. Taking anything in double digits is usually a bad idea. On the other hand, anything that looks really stupid is almost always a good idea when you’re betting sports. If it looks too good to be true—it is. The Giants will have no trouble covering a double digit spread at home against the inconsistent 9ers.
The champs are coming off a surprising loss on Monday night against Cleveland. They were undefeated, and the Browns couldn’t tie their own shoes in previous weeks. Obviously the Browns got their heads out of their asses. They caught the Giants by surprise.
Eli Manning had been fantastic heading into that game. His 57.1 quarterback rating on Monday was his worst of the season, and he failed to throw for at least 200 yards for the first time this year.
As a team the Giants also failed to get a sack
in that game for the first time this season. They’re currently
sixth in the league with 15.0 total sacks. Don’t expect them to
finish the season out of the top three, as they led the league last
season.
Just for fun, guess which quarterback has been sacked the most times
on the season, by far.
Yes, J.T. O’Sullivan!
Mike Martz has him just stand back there and get
his brains beaten in for his own amusement. He’s been squashed
to the turf 23 times in 2008, four more than the closest squashee, Matt
Cassell.
The bonus question: Who’s thrown the most picks this season? Yes—him—same
guy. If you saw J.T. O. throw the ball away on fourth down against New
England you already know just how clueless he is.
Interestingly, not a single west coast team traveling to the east coast has won this season. Make of that what you will.
These same two teams played in New York last season. The Giants were favored by 9.5 and won 33-15.
Expect the Giants to play more conservatively than last week and get the ball in the hands of Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward plenty. Eli needs to bounce back from a three interception game, while the defense will be looking to force turnovers.
The champs get back to business and hammer San Francisco
