NFC North
By far, the toughest division to analyze was the NFC North. This year all eyes will be on the fight for the division leader. Ace took some time before predicting the outcome due to deals, cuts, and a few missing players to appear or stay gone. So here it is:
GB will, in the end, take the division. Some say it will be easy, others don't believe it at all. We at Ace believe that The Pack will end the regular season with the overall best record of the NFC North. The largest problem Greenbay ran into last year was letting Rodgers get pounded. Yes, the offensive line had everything to do with that. However, Rodgers was getting into stride and began to take less time in the pocket to zero in on his intended target. With a focus on protection and Rodgers honing his ability, the result is a damaging combination that will make them extremely difficult to handle.
Minny Lets talk about it. Minny has the ability to attack from land, air, and sea. Favre, the now 88 yr old in NFL years, is starting to look stiff. Real stiff. Don't get us wrong, we respect his ability, we respect he can even get up from a crouching position. But we can't ignore the fact that the body breaks down over time. We don't feel Favre is done by any means. We are merely suggesting that last year was the best we will ever see from him again. They will run the ball, they will be successful, they will painfully hurt other teams, but they will not take the North.
Rounding off the bottom two teams are...
Detroit That's right. Some will laugh at this and we will probably get a few, "you're an idiot", emails. However, we stand by it. It's gone to print. Their defense ranked last in so many catagories last year to list. So, that's where the focus went to. They picked up some pups from the NCAA and are starting to build. Lets not forget that Linehan seriously realized how bad his team was. He decided to make some changes that went with Staffords strengths. Expect Stafford and Johnson to at least try to be 'the other guys' this season. Don't expect fireworks.
Chi Ka go We really have no idea what to say. We visited Chi town just a few weeks ago. No one is really expecting anything. We did hear a few people talk about some quarterback that played once somewhere and another guy... There were a few bets going on about how many people will jump from the stadium. 5 bucks to anyone that would land on Martz (He thinks he has enough to "Get it done"). Listen, the Bears are missing some sort of direction. Urlacher isn't exactly healthy and that madman is involved in every single play. He gives the D support it needs and is in control. Yes, there are other notable players on D, but Urlacher is like the QB of the D. The Bears need direction and a few more years of growth before they do anything again.
