The mission of AceFootballPicks.com has long been to supply its clients and subscribers information that will better their knowledge of football betting and increase the likelihood of building their bankroll making a few bucks while having fun along the way. One of the biggest money makers the last decade has been Ace's college football predictions. Here on this page we define our handicapping methods to give you more insight of our handicapping experience.

When you say the word “handicapping” in regards to sports, different people conjure up different images—and rightfully so. Handicapping is basically a “system”, dare I say science, of predicting an outcome of an event. Every sports handicapper has his or her methods for predicting college football games. It might be prudent to devise three main groups that most handicappers fall into—Mechanical, Sensory and Mixed.

Mechanical Handicapping

The mechanical handicapper follows a specific formula to determine the predicted outcome of an event. For example, the mechanical handicapper might always bet teams based on winner percentages, past performances or even some elaborate formula. The point is, the mechanical handicapper always follows a formula and very rarely enters any actual personal thoughts or gut feelings into selections.

Sensory Handicapping

The sensory handicapper is just the opposite. He or she will look at stats, but use gut feeling and thoughts as a primary tool for making selections. For example, someone using this method might base his or her selection off a past performance he or she watched. Someone using this method primarily goes off of the “feel” of the game. If it feels right, it’s a good selection.

Mixed Handicapping

The mixed handicapper is really the complete package. He or she pays close attention to statistical analysis, watches a large amount of games, digs deeper and uses all of these aspects to formulate a selection. As you might expect, someone using these methods spends a lot more time coming up with selections than someone using one of the other two methods. Someone using this method most likely spends many hours weekly watching events, many hours analyzing stats and many hours reading news and other informative reports. This is mixed type of handicapping is what we at AceFootballPicks.com use to derive our premium and free college football predictions. We feel that with this 3 pronged approach we leave no stone uncovered and the 66% win rate our premium selections hit at in the 2006 college football season is a testament to these methods.

While all three can handicapping methods can experience limited success, only the mixed handicapper stands a legitimate shot at winning over the long run.
