Big Dogs Looking even scarier

Not only is Ace an winning football handicapper providing winning NFL sports picks on a weekly basis. But we also cover the NFL and NCAA news 365 days a year resulting in well written articles for our readers.

The NFL and all Football fans alike should take notice of what's going on in Cleveland. In a league where nearly anyone can win any given year, the Browns took a huge leap toward rapid improvement. The 2006 Browns had a relatively dynamic offense with some formidable big play weapons, but the Browns of the very near future will be much more difficult to scheme against.

Though they could have paired Adrian Peterson with Jamal Lewis to strengthen their running game and play more ball control, the Browns decided with the third overall pick to solidify their protection for years to come with offensive tackle Joe Thomas out of Wisconsin. Thomas is thought to be the best "O" line talent to come into the league in years. The Browns then traded up to pick up Brady Quinn, the man who was thought to be the top college prospect for this draft since before this past NFL and NCAA seasons started.

Quinn, a native of Ohio, grew up a Browns fan. As a former Notre Dame quarterback he is hugely popular, bringing to a somewhat anonymous franchise a big name face to be identified with for the future. This will certainly have the fans excited, as will the Browns new style of play.

With Charlie Frye at quarterback the Browns played a slightly conservative style, settling for dump offs and shorter passes. Quinn, with experience in Charlie Weis's high powered, aggressive, NFL style offense, will stretch the field and open things up for the run. Former Michigan Wolverine Braylon Edwards caught only 61 balls from Frye in 2006, a distant second on the team to tight end Kellen Winslow's 89. Edwards will play the role of deep threat receiver for Quinn, similar to his receivers at Notre Dame like Jeff Samardzija and Maurice Stovall. Look for his reception total to skyrocket once Quinn becomes the man in Cleveland.

With the addition of Jamal Lewis in the backfield and Quinn eventually running the show, the Browns should have defenses on their toes. With Quinn looking to go downfield Jamal Lewis should see plenty of running room in front of him. Likewise, with defenses creeping up to stop a powerful downhill runner like Lewis, Quinn should see an abundance of openings to hit Edwards deep on the outside or Winslow down the middle. Look for the Browns to make serious noise in the AFC and give handicappers some trouble as soon as Brady Quinn makes the adjustment to the NFL.
