Drooling over the opportunity to invest in Peyton Manning and the Colts as underdogs this week?

Not so fast!

The Eagles have won eleven straight following their bye week and will make it twelve on Sunday, and cover the three points.

Eagles’ quarterback Michael Vick’s return from a rib cartilage injury will zap the Birds back to life after a week seven loss to the Titans.

Vick has been sensational in his limited time on the field this season. A 90.8 quarterback rating in four games is the outlier, as he topped 100 in each of the other three. He’ll also have the services of DeSean Jackson, who’ll be returning from a concussion. Jackson’s numbers with Vick playing quarterback are astounding. In the two full games that Vick has played, Jackson has gone berserk, racking up 135 and 153 yards with a touchdown in each game.

Vick is also likely licking his chops looking at this juicy matchup with a team that struggles so much to tackle. The Colts are 29th in the NFL against the run, allowing 133.1 yards per game. They haven’t faced a quarterback more mobile than David Garrard in 2010, while Vick leads all NFL quarterbacks with 187 rushing yards on 26 attempts. Expect Andy Reid and the Eagles to exploit this advantage in order to keep Manning and the Colts’ off the field.

Manning, who’s still without one of his best weapons in tight end Dallas Clark, won’t be able to simply have his way with the Philadelphia defense. The Eagles have forced at least one interception in every game they’ve played this season and rank 11th in the league against the pass.

Indianapolis is also coming off a Monday night game and will play on one fewer day of rest than usual.

The Colts, seemingly invincible against the spread, have covered just one of their last five games on the road. They’ve also covered the spread just once in their last five following an against-the-spread win and once in five in games on grass.

The Eagles, conversely, have covered four straight games following a bye week.
